I watched "The Green Mile" on previous Sunday (8 June 08). before i watched this movie, i got saw the trailer and i thought is a horror movie (because i saw one character , his mouth got something scary thing came out). Somehow at the end i still watching it because my sis already turned on the TV.
The Green Mile actually written by Stephen King. and it helped him win the Bram Stoker Award for Best Novel in 1996. After that, Frank Darabont put it as a movie.
During watching the movie, i kept reminding myself not to be scary as i keep thinking it was a horror movie. And i prepare to run into my bedroom if the horror part coming out. However this story out of my expect, and i cried for being touched by it.
So, the story going like that.....(refer to wiki...... heihei)
An elderly Paul Edgecombe told his friend about his flashback in a nursing house. Paul Edgecombe was a corrections officer in charge of Death Row inmates in Louisiana's Cold Mountain Penitentiary. His part was called "The Green Mile" because there was the place for the prisoners, which were having 'the last mile' on a stretch of green linoleum. The main feature of this part was 'Old Sparky', the electric chair.
This part very scary, that prisoner shock until he was burnt >.....<
hehehe~ I like himOne day, a new inmates arrives, John Coffey, a muscular African America man convicted of raping and killing two little girls. Actually he didn't do any of that, just only because the color of the skin, no people believed what he was trying to say. Besides, Paul realizes John has a special power, which heal his urinary tract infection, alive Mr. Jingle, which is a mouse and also wife of Warden Hal Moores who had a brain tumour the size of a lemon.
At the same time, Percy Wetmore, a violent, sadistic, and potentially mentally ill guard, he used the reason of ' the relative of the governor's wife' keep putting pleasure to the inmates. Wetmore recognizes that the other officers greatly dislike him, and uses that to demand being promoted or managing the next execution. After that, he promises, he will have himself transferred to an administrative post in the Briar Ridge mental hospital, and Edgecombe will never hear from him again. A reluctant agreement is made, but Edgecombe comes to regret it after Wetmore deliberately sabotages the electrocution, inflicting as much pain as possible on Eduard "Del" Delacroix.
Then, violent prisoner named William "Wild Bill" Whartonarrives, due to be executed for multiple murders he committed during a robbery. At one point he seizes Coffey's arm, and Coffey senses that Wild Bill is the true killer of the two girls, the crime for which Coffey was falsely convicted and sent to death row. Coffey then uses his powers to compel Wetmore to empty his handgun into Wild Bill, after which Wetmore falls into a permanent catatonic state. Stunned by these events, Edgecombe queries Coffey, who says he "punished them bad men", then takes Edgecombe's hand and imparts the vision that he saw of what really happened to the girls, a vision that Edgecombe finds nearly unbearable to endure. Wild Bill is dead at Wetmore's hands, and Wetmore ends up as a patient at the very asylum to which he promised Edgecombe he would transfer.
At the end, John Coffey still died on the electric chair, and Paul Edgecombe and his colleagues feel regret because they know John really is an innocent person. They can't do anything just pray for him to being free from the world where John felt tiring and suffering.

So..... The End (T.T)
